An outdoor play activity for all ages at York Museum Gardens, inspired by the Melsonby Hoard exhibition.
Art Outdoors is back in the York Museum Gardens on Thursday 13 August, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. It's an outdoor play activity run as a fortnightly series of drop-in sessions on Thursdays, so you don't need to book ahead—you just turn up when it suits you. It's open to all ages, which makes it a decent shout if you've got kids in tow and want something to do on a weekday morning or afternoon.
The sessions are weather dependent, so keep an eye on the forecast. If the weather turns, the activity may move indoors, and that's when general admission charges apply. When it stays outside, it's free.
The whole thing is inspired by the Yorkshire Museum's exhibition Chariots, Treasure and Power: Secrets of the Melsonby Hoard, so the activities draw on the hoard's story rather than just being random crafts. It's part of a wider run of sessions on Thursdays from 30 July to 27 August, with this one falling on the 13th.
