Three-day STEAM camp for grades 2-4 where children dream up ideas, build prototypes, test creations and solve engineering challenges.
MOSI is running the Inventors Workshop from December 28 to 30, a three-day winter break camp for second through fourth graders. It's part of their School Break Camps, a series of STEAM programs for kids in grades K-8 that run throughout the year, so if your child is a bit younger or older, there are other sessions to look at. This one is built around the Inventors Workshop, and the whole thing is hands-on.
Over the three days, the kids dream up their own ideas, build prototypes, test what they've made, and work through engineering challenges. It's a full cycle—from the first sketch to a working model—and they do it all within the museum. The focus is on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, with activities designed to get them thinking and building rather than just watching. If your kid is the type who can't stop taking things apart to see how they work, this is exactly the kind of thing they'll get into.
Logistically, it's set up to be manageable for parents. The camp runs from 9 AM to 4 PM, and if you need a bit more breathing room on either end, there's extended care available from 7 AM to 9 AM and from 4 PM to 6 PM for an additional fee. That means you can drop them off as early as 7 AM and pick them up as late as 6 PM, which helps if you're juggling work during the break. And if you don't want to worry about packing a lunch, you can order one through Puff 'n Stuff to be delivered right to the museum.
