Free dachshund race day at the Upper Tampa Bay Oktoberfest, with a hot dog dunk, bier walk and all-breed skill contests.
The Wiener Dog Derby is coming to Tampa Bay Downs on Sunday, October 18, as part of the Upper Tampa Bay Oktoberfest. It's presented by the Florida Wiener Dog Derby, and it's one of the main draws of the day. If you've got a dachshund, you're invited to race your dog and hang out with other wiener dog owners. The races are open to all ages, so it's a family thing.
There's more to do than just the racing, too. You can enter the HotDog Dunk and the Bier Walk, and there are two all-breed skill contests, so you don't need a dachshund to get in on those. Between the races and the other contests, it's a full afternoon for dog people.
