Second annual family-friendly Halloween trunk or treat at Trinity Chapel, with candy, food, games, costumes and prayer.
Trinity Chapel is hosting its Second Annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 24, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM at 3411 N 55th Street in Tampa. It's a family-friendly Halloween evening put on by Trinity Chapel Christian Fellowship, with candy, food, games, and costumes for the kids. The church family will also be on hand to offer prayer and encouragement throughout the night.
If you've never been to one, the format is pretty simple: instead of trick-or-treating from door to door, you go from car to car. Families park in one spot—usually a church or school parking lot—and decorate their trunks, handing out candy from the back. It started in American churches back in the 1990s as a safer, more contained alternative to the usual neighborhood route. Most events like this add a costume parade, games, or a contest for the best-decorated trunk to keep things moving.
One detail to keep in mind if you're bringing kids with food allergies: look for the teal pumpkins. A teal pumpkin marks a trunk that's handing out non-food treats, part of the Teal Pumpkin Project. It's a small thing that makes the night a lot easier for families who have to be careful about what their kids are taking home.
