Faith-based festival celebrating Greek heritage with Greek food, dancing, live music, a market and a Kids Zone.
The Tampa Greek Festival returns to St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7. It's a faith-based celebration that's been running for more than 40 years, and it's one of those local fixtures that draws thousands of people each year. The festival opens Friday afternoon and runs all day Saturday, closing at 10 PM both nights.
Most of the action centers on the food and the dancing. Dance troupes of every age, right down to toddlers, perform in costume, with styles from the mainland and the islands. A bouzouki-led band plays in the Grand Hall and the outdoor party tent, and the loukoumades—hot Greek donuts drizzled with honey and nuts—come straight out of the fryer. Beyond the food and music, you can tour the original church, where the parish choir sings hymns, many written in the first centuries after Christ. There's also a market selling Greek and Mediterranean provisions, icons, books, and jewelry.

It's a community-driven event: a portion of the proceeds goes to various charities, and the church runs a priest-led 'Orthodoxy 101' class alongside bible studies. The campus is wheelchair accessible, and there's a separate Kids Zone for families. The festival is free and open to the public, so you can drop in whenever works for you. You'll find it at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2418 W. Swann Ave, Tampa, FL 33609.
