Homeschool STEAM enrichment class for students aged 5-7 where they design and build creations as engineers and problem-solvers.
The Museum of Science and Industry is hosting SEED Ages 5-7: Engineering the Future on Tuesday, January 5, and Thursday, January 7, from 1 PM to 3 PM. It's part of their SEED Days, the monthly enrichment classes they run for homeschoolers in Tampa. The whole series is designed to complement a homeschool curriculum through hands-on STEAM explorations—Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics—so if you're looking for a way to get those subjects out of the books and into the real world, this is a good spot to start.
This particular session is titled Engineering the Future, and it's built around the engineering side of that STEAM mix. The kids spend the afternoon designing and building their own creations, working as engineers and problem-solvers rather than just following a set of instructions. It's the kind of thing where they get to actually make something and figure out how it works along the way, which is usually the part that sticks with them long after the class is over.

There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you sign up. These sessions are for students only, and the minimum age is 5, so it's a space for the kids to work through the projects on their own. You'll also need to register and pay at least one week in advance to get a spot. The cost is $25 for non-members and $20 for members, and since it runs on both Tuesday and Thursday, you can pick the day that fits your schedule best. Both sessions run from 1 PM to 3 PM at MOSI.
