Annual community walk to raise awareness about mental health, with pre-registration required.
NAMIWalks Hillsborough returns to Rowlett Park on Saturday, October 24, as the annual community walk to raise awareness about mental health. It's hosted by NAMI Hillsborough, the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and it's free and open to the public, though you'll need to pre-register to take part.
NAMI describes the day as more than just a walk. They call it a movement of hope, healing, education, and community connection that brings together individuals, families, organizations, and community leaders to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma, and advocate for those impacted by mental health conditions. The goal is to remind people they aren't alone, to honor those facing mental health challenges, and to help expand access to free mental health education, support groups, and community resources throughout Hillsborough County. There's a personal side to it, too: participants are encouraged to share a personal story as a "beam of light" in someone else's heart.
