Beginner-friendly cyanotype workshop led by Cactus Moon to create unique botanical sun prints using the Florida sun.
Cactus Moon is hosting a botanical sun printing workshop at Pete's Bagels - Ybor on Sunday, November 1, from 1 PM to 2 PM. It's a beginner-friendly session that works with cyanotype, one of the oldest photographic printing processes. The way it works is pretty straightforward: you arrange botanicals on light-sensitive paper and let the Florida sunshine do the heavy lifting. Then you rinse and develop the paper to reveal deep-blue prints. No art or cyanotype experience is necessary, and every print comes out completely unique.
Your ticket covers the materials to make four botanical cyanotype prints, plus the light-sensitive paper, botanicals, and step-by-step guidance. You're also encouraged to bring your own flat botanical treasures—think leaves, flowers, and ferns—to work into your prints. The workshop is open to all ages, so it works as a solo afternoon or something to do with kids. Just a heads-up that food and beverages aren't included, so you'll want to grab a bagel or a coffee from Pete's separately if that's your speed.
