Forensics-themed hands-on STEAM workshop for children to make observations and gather evidence to solve a mystery.
MOSI is hosting its Super Sleuths workshop on Saturday, March 13, from 10 AM to 1 PM. It's part of the museum's Kids STEAM series, and this one is built around forensics. The kids spend the morning making observations and gathering evidence to unravel clues, so they're doing the actual work of a crime scene investigator rather than just watching a demo.
That's the thing about these workshops: they're hands-on. The kids don't just watch science happen; they do it. Depending on the session, they might solve mysteries through forensics, experiment with reactions and materials, or design, build, and test their own creations. The programs are led by educators and lean into problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork. Most of them also align with Cub Scout and Girl Scout badge requirements, and both Scouts and non-Scouts are welcome. If your child is under 13, they'll need an adult chaperone—the minimum ratio is one adult per ten children.
Beyond the workshops, MOSI runs overnight camp-ins from 7 PM to 9 AM, which come with a fun patch, a light breakfast, and a snack. There are add-on options too: a museum fun patch, a planetarium show, and a virtual reality experience. It's a good way to stretch a single visit into a whole weekend.
