Overnight STEAM camp-in for children in K-6th grade where they act as paleontologists studying prehistoric life and rock samples.
MOSI is hosting a kids' camp-in called Dinosaur Detectives on Saturday, May 1, 2027. It's a sleepover at the museum, so the whole thing runs from 7 PM on Saturday through 9 AM on Sunday, May 2. The program is recommended for children in K-6th grade.
The theme is exactly what it sounds like: kids step into the shoes of paleontologists and journey back to the Jurassic Era. They'll spend their time studying prehistoric life and examining rock samples, so it's a hands-on way to get into how paleontology actually works rather than just looking at exhibits from behind a rope. Since it's a camp-in, they'll be spending the night right there at the museum, which is usually the part kids remember most.
It's a STEAM-focused program, so the dinosaur stuff is the hook for a night of science and exploration. If you've got a kid in that K-6 range who's into dinosaurs, this is one of those rare chances for them to spend a whole night surrounded by the things they're obsessed with.
