Seventh annual dog costume contest with on-site registration, pop-up pet vendors, adoptable dogs from MercyFull Project and free pup psychic readings.
The Modern Paws are bringing back Howl-O-Ween to Sparkman Wharf on Sunday, October 18, for its seventh year. It's their annual dog costume contest, and the whole thing runs from 4 PM to 6 PM, with registration opening on-site at 3 PMβan hour before the judging gets underway on the lawn.
There are several costume categories to enter, including Best Costume Duo for a human and dog pairing and Best Overall Costume. If you're among the first 50 guests to register, you'll walk away with a treat-filled swag bag, so getting there early pays off. The contest is the main event, but it's only one part of the afternoon.
Around the contest, there are pet-focused pop-up vendors to browse and adoptable dogs from MercyFull Project if you're looking for a new companion. For something a bit more unusual, the Pumpkin Sage Witch is offering free pup psychic readings, and there are free pet caricatures to take home. It's a full afternoon for dogs and their people, with the costume contest as the center of it.
