Haunted Library Cookie Decorating Class

Miss Jenn's Cookies is hosting a Haunted Library cookie decorating class at the Gandy Civic Association on Sunday, October 25, from 3 PM to 5 PM. It's built for beginners, so if you've never touched a piping bag in your life, you're in the right place. Miss Jenn walks you through decorating six sugar cookies from start to finish, covering the basics of cookie decoration and royal icing—including how to get the icing consistency right and the actual piping techniques you'll need to pull it off. The whole thing is aimed at spooky-season fans, so it's a good way to lean into the Halloween vibe a few days before the actual holiday.

One of the best parts is that you don't need any baking experience to join in. The cookies arrive pre-baked and the icing comes pre-dyed, so the only thing you're responsible for is the decorating. You'll spend the afternoon working through the six cookies, and when you're done, you take home more than just the treats: you'll leave with your decorated sugar cookies, the leftover royal icings, the tools you used, a gift, and a set of recipes and supply links so you can keep going at home.

There are a couple of practical things to keep in mind before you sign up. The class is recommended for ages 13 and up, though children 10 and older can attend with a paid ticket. No lap children or observers are allowed, so this is a hands-on session for everyone in the room. If you need to cancel, you'll get a refund minus fees as long as you give 24 hours' notice; otherwise, you'll get a credit for another class.

The class runs from 3 PM to 5 PM at the Gandy Civic Association, 4207 West Oklahoma Avenue, Tampa, FL 33616, with doors opening at 2:45 PM.
