Friday Beginner Practica Social

Iroko Latin Dance Academy is hosting its monthly Beginner Practica Social on Friday, October 16, from 8 PM to 11 PM. It's a practice night specifically for beginners, so if you've been taking classes and are looking for a place to actually use what you're learning, this is exactly that. The whole point is to get out of the classroom and onto the floor, where you can work through the steps and patterns you've been practicing without the pressure of a formal lesson.

Beyond the dancing, it's a social night. You'll find other beginners there who are in the same boat, so it's a good way to meet more people in the local dance community. Since it's a practice session rather than a performance or a high-stakes social, you can take your time and dance at your own pace. If you're still feeling a bit shaky on your footwork, you're in the right place—everyone there is learning, and the atmosphere is meant to be low-pressure.

It's a monthly thing, so if you can't make this one, there'll be another one coming up soon. The academy is at 8211 N. Florida Ave in Tampa, and there's free parking available, which makes getting there and getting home a lot easier. Entry is $10, and the floor stays open from 8 PM until 11 PM, so you can drop in for an hour or stay for the whole night.
