A family-friendly Halloween bash with indoor trick-or-treating, games, music, dancing, and an interactive story time with local author Bea Sumner.
Doula Hive is hosting a Family Friendly Halloween Bash on Saturday, October 24, from 5 PM to 7 PM at their space on North Dale Mabry Highway. It's a gentle take on the holiday, built for families with kids rather than a spooky party. Costumes are encouraged, and the whole afternoon is set up to be easygoing.
The trick-or-treating happens in two parts: indoor stations throughout the community space and outdoor trunk-or-treating. Between those, there are Halloween games and activities, plus music and dancing to keep things moving. The indoor activities are on the second floor, and the building doesn't have an elevator, so keep that in mind if you're bringing a stroller or have mobility concerns.
The center of the afternoon is an interactive story time led by local author Bea Sumner, who'll be reading her new book, Scary's Not a Part of Me. It's a story about being different, embracing who you are, and discovering that you don't have to be like everyone else to belong—the kind of thing that fits right in with the family-friendly vibe of the day. Signed copies are available for $5 each.
