Homeschool day at the 19th-century living history museum Cracker Country, with hands-on art and music activities from the late 1800s.
Cracker Country is hosting a homeschool day focused on music and art on Tuesday, May 11, 2027, from 10 AM to 2 PM. It's part of their regular homeschool programming, which they build specifically for homeschool groups and families. The day is centered on Florida's music and art history, and the museum brings that history to life with hands-on activities that let you actually do the art and music of the era rather than just reading about it.
To get your bearings, Cracker Country is a 19th-century living history museum at the Florida State Fairgrounds—Tampa's only one of its kind—dedicated to preserving and interpreting rural Florida life in the late 1800s. You tour original structures from the late 19th century with docents in period dress, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of an old-fashioned country past. The museum also has a General Store on-site stocked with nostalgic reproduction items, historical toys and games, books, and candy, and the proceeds from the store support their education programs. Beyond these homeschool days, they offer educational field trips for Florida elementary students, privately scheduled tours, and a limited number of public events each year.
