A community open mic night featuring live piano accompaniment where performers can sign up to sing showtunes in a family-friendly setting.
Broadway Open Mic Night returns to the New Tampa Performing Arts Center on Monday, October 26, from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's part of a recurring series the venue runs, and this one takes place in the NTPAC lobby—the space with the floor-to-ceiling windows—which turns into a stage for the evening. The night is free and open to the public, so you can just show up and listen.
If you're the one singing, here's how it works: you sign up on the day, first-come, first-served, and you bring your own sheet music. David Estevez provides live piano accompaniment for every performer, so you don't need to bring your own backing track or instrument. The night is built for a mix of people—seasoned performers, students practicing for an audition, and anyone who just loves to sing. You can belt out your favorite showtunes with a supportive audience around you, and there's a cash bar in the room.
General manager Keith Arsenault describes the night as a way for people to connect through music, expression, and the shared joy of live performance, and he says it's meant to be a welcoming space for everyone from the experienced to the absolute amateur. The whole thing runs about two hours and is billed as a family-friendly night of musical theatre favorites. It's part of the center's broader mission to expand access to the arts and create participatory experiences for the Hillsborough County community.
