Free monthly 5K run held on the first Wednesday of each month at Armature Works, a historic streetcar barn on the Hillsborough River.
The Armature Works 5K is a monthly run that gathers at the Armature Works Parking Lot on the first Wednesday of each month. The next one is Wednesday, Nov 4, at 6:30 PM, and the whole thing runs for about an hour and a half. It's free to join.
If you're not familiar with the spot, Armature Works is a multi-use destination in a historic brick streetcar barn in Tampa Heights, right along the Hillsborough River. It's a hub for community gatherings, from outdoor night markets to culinary pop-ups, with an indoor food hall that brings together concepts from local chefs and waterfront patio seating overlooking the river. The surrounding brick streets open onto the broader Tampa Riverwalk network, so there's plenty to do around the area before or after you run.
The 5K itself is pitched as "super simple, super fun": you run the course with a group of running friends or turn up solo and make some. The meetup gathers by the water, where vendor tents from Rezzi and Fit2Run, among others, hand out giveaways. It's as much about the people as the distance, and the riverfront setting makes it a nice way to spend a Wednesday evening.
