Family-friendly Halloween celebration with trick-or-treating at 15 stations, costumed characters, games, crafts and a costume contest at the Tampa Bay History Center.
A Night at the Museum returns to the Tampa Bay History Center on Saturday, October 24, for its 15th annual run. It's a family-friendly Halloween celebration that's been a fixture here for fifteen years, and the proceeds go toward the Center's exhibitions, educational programs, and outreach.
The afternoon is built around trick-or-treating, with 15 stations spread across the museum. Between the candy stops, you'll run into costumed characters and find games and crafts to keep the kids busy, all with Florida's history as the backdrop. There are photo opportunities on every floor, so if you've put a lot of work into your costumes, you'll have plenty of places to document them. There's also a costume contest and the Teal Pumpkin Project, which provides allergy-friendly and non-food treats for kids who can't have the usual candy.
Much of the character work is handled by volunteers. The lineup runs from princesses and superheroes to pirates and villains, and Amanda Hoffman, the Center's Director of Education, mentioned she's especially looking forward to working with new volunteers for this 15th anniversary. If you're in the neighborhood and want to get involved, that's a good place to start.

Tickets are $20, and members save 15%. The event runs from 2 PM to 6:30 PM, but it's timed entry, with the final entry at 5 PM—so if you're planning a late start, keep that in mind. Once you've had your fill of the museum, you can head over to the Tampa Riverwalk for a 7 PM movie to round out the evening. The History Center is at 801 Water Street in downtown Tampa.
