Exhibition by NC Qin of cast glass pieces and a performance art video at Third Degree Glass, shown during the venue's Third Friday.
NC Qin is showing The Wearer Worn at Third Degree Glass, 5200 Delmar Boulevard, through October 31. The exhibition pairs a performance art video with a series of cast glass pieces, so you'll get both a screen and a room full of glass to walk through. It's on display for the next couple of weeks, which gives you some breathing room if you can't make it this weekend.
If you want to see it as part of something bigger, the show opens during Third Degree's Third Friday, the factory's monthly party that runs from 6 to 10 PM. That night, the glassblowing demonstrations are running, and there's food, drinks and live music. It's the kind of evening where you can drift between the exhibition and the activity in the shop.
Two specific things happen that night. First is the annual Death Match, a glassblowing competition that pits Third Degree artists against Mario Clarke and his team from the Springfield Art Association. The losing piece gets smashed by a giant pumpkin donated by Eckert's. Outside, there's Delish on Delmar, a mix of food festival, makers market and block party that takes over the street in front of the building.

Third Degree Glass opened 24 years ago to co-founders Doug Auer and Jim McKelvey, and their mission since then has been sharing their passion for glass with the local community. The Wearer Worn is on display through October 31, and Third Friday runs from 6 to 10 PM.
