A hands-on event featuring fossil displays, talks by scientists, live demonstrations and a 12-foot T-Rex skull sculpture.
The St. Louis Prehistoric Life Show takes over the St. Louis Science Center on Saturday, October 17, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. It's a one-day event, so if you're planning to go, you'll want to clear a good chunk of your Saturday morning and afternoon to really see it all.
The day is built around a few different things happening at once. There are exhibitors and fossil displays to walk through, and throughout the day, fossil hunters and scientists will be giving talks. You'll also find live demonstrations, so it's not just looking at things behind glass—there's a fair amount of active showing going on. The standout is Lola, a 12-foot T-Rex skull sculpture that'll be on display.
Since the show is at the St. Louis Science Center in Forest Park, you can make a whole day of it. The center is a hands-on STEM museum with OMNIMAX movies, and the James S. McDonnell Planetarium is just across the walkway. General admission to the museum is free, though some of the special attractions require tickets. The center is open Thursday through Monday and closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
