Exhibition by Saundi McClain-Kloeckener at the Kemper Art Museum in St. Louis.
Reciprocal Care: Plants, Water, People opens at the Kemper Art Museum on Saturday, October 17. It's a new exhibition that brings together plants, water, and people under one roof, and the title itself—Reciprocal Care—gives you a good sense of where it's heading: the way these things look after one another.
Behind the show is Saundi McClain-Kloeckener, who's putting the program together. If you're not familiar, she's a curator and writer who's spent a lot of time thinking about how art connects to the world around us, and this exhibition fits right into that. The focus is on the relationship between the natural world and the human one, and the way those connections work both ways. It's not just about looking at plants or water as things we use or admire from a distance, but as part of a cycle of care that we're a part of, too.

Since it's at the Kemper, you'll find it right in the heart of the city's art scene, and the opening date is Saturday, October 17. If you've been following the museum's recent programming, this is another one that leans into the intersection of art and the environment, and it's a good place to start if you're interested in how we relate to the living things around us. The show runs from that date, so you've got some time to work your way over to it.
