Opening of three new solo exhibitions by Igor Karash, Anna Schenker and Melissa Whiteman at The Foundry Art Centre on First Friday.
The Foundry Art Centre opens three new solo exhibitions on Friday, October 2, with a First Friday reception from 5 to 8 PM. The shows run through November 21, so if you can't make the opening, you've got several weeks to catch them. The artists are Igor Karash, Anna Schenker, and Melissa Whiteman.
Karash is an Azerbaijani-born illustrator based here in St. Louis, and he's showing Illustrating Slaughterhouse-Five, a series of commissioned illustrations he did for the limited edition of Kurt Vonnegut's semi-autobiographical, science fiction-infused anti-war novel, published by Easton Press in 2025. His work has been featured in TASCHEN's The Illustrator: 100 Best Illustrators from Around the Globe.
Schenker, an artist and educator, presents Observations, a collection of rubbings, paintings, and sculptures that record her direct interaction with her immediate surroundings, using touch as a tool to preserve a moment in time. Whiteman shows Dark Horizons, meticulously detailed paintings that explore the raw power and beauty of Midwest storms.
