Guided community bike ride led by Christopher Moreland that stops at some of St. Louis's vibrant murals and public art.
Murals of the Lou is a guided community bike ride that rolls through St. Louis on Saturday, October 17, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. It starts at the Walls Off Washington atrium at 3316 Washington Ave in Grand Center, and from there it heads through Midtown and Downtown, stopping along the way to look at some of the city's most vibrant murals and public art. At each stop, the group pauses to hear about the artists, the stories, and the neighborhoods behind the work, so you get more than just a glimpse of the art as you ride past.
Christopher Moreland, head preparator at the Saint Louis Art Museum, leads the ride, and it's presented by Trailnet. The route is part of Trailnet's Community Rides, a series of guided, slow-paced group rides that explore the history and culture of the St. Louis community and invite people to celebrate the city's art from the seat of their bike. Because it's slow-paced, it's a good one if you're more interested in the art and the stories than in putting in any serious mileage.
