Free public tour in which museum educators are stationed in the galleries to discuss the artworks with visitors.
Let's Talk in the Galleries is back at the Saint Louis Art Museum on Friday, October 30, from 11 AM to 1 PM. This time, the focus is Quilts and Coverlets, American Needlework in White, an exhibition that brings together a collection of white-on-white American needlework. If you've ever looked at a quilt and wondered about the patterns, the techniques, or the history behind the stitches, this is exactly the kind of morning for that.
The format is straightforward: museum educators are stationed throughout the galleries, ready to talk through the artworks with visitors. It's not a formal lecture or a guided tour that moves you along on a set schedule. Instead, you can wander through the exhibition at your own pace and stop to ask questions whenever something catches your eye. If a particular quilt stands out, there's someone right there to help you make sense of it, and if you're just browsing, you can keep moving. It's a good way to get a bit more out of the show than you would on your own.
