Free Sunday-afternoon family program with gallery exploration, hands-on art activities, a screening of 'Inside Out' and interactive performances.
Saint Louis Art Museum is hosting another Family Sunday on Sunday, November 8, starting at 1:00 PM. This one is titled Inside Out, Emotional Eruption, and it's part of the museum's regular series of Sunday-afternoon programs. The whole point of Family Sunday is to get people into the galleries to uncover the stories behind the collection through a mix of exploration and hands-on art activities.
The afternoon is built around Inside Out, the Pixar movie about the emotions inside a young girl's head. That's the main feature here, and it's what ties the rest of the program together. You'll spend time in the galleries, work through some art activities, and then settle in for a screening of the film. There are also interactive performances mixed in, so it's not just sitting and watching—you'll be moving between the art and the screen.
If you're not familiar with how these work, the museum's Family Sunday series is designed for visitors to engage with the collection in a way that's accessible for all ages. The gallery exploration lets you see the art up close, and the hands-on activities let you make something of your own. This particular session uses Inside Out as a jumping-off point to think about emotions, which fits right in with the museum's goal of uncovering the stories behind the pieces on the walls.
