A one-night event opening the Laumeier Sculpture Park after hours with live music, light-based art installations, a Night Market, and fire pits.
Laumeier After Dark returns to Laumeier Sculpture Park on Saturday, November 7, from 4 PM to 10 PM. It's a one-night event that opens the park after hours, and it's one of the few times you can wander the grounds when they're lit up at night. The whole thing is built around light: temporary light-based art installations, the sculpture collection and trails illuminated, and fire pits scattered throughout. There's a Night Market with local makers and food and drink vendors, and a pop-up cocktail bar called Technicolor Dreams run by Hidden Gem and Golden Gems.
The music runs all evening on the Main Stage. The Grooveliner kicks things off from 4:15 to 5 PM, followed by Lizzie Weber from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. The Hamilton Band takes over from 7 to 8:15 PM, and Me Like Bees closes it out from 8:45 to 10 PM. While the bands are playing, there are roaming performers moving through the park: Joe Fry the Guitar Guy, magician Terry Richison, singer-songwriter Caleb Rosson, Flo Show, stiltwalker TOTO, and the stiltwalkers of Sun Woman Cirque.
This year's event comes as Laumeier celebrates its 50th anniversary—five decades as one of the first and largest sculpture parks in the country. The anniversary theme is Where Wander Turns to Wonder, and the year includes an exhibition, three new outdoor commissions by Juan William Chávez, Ursula von Rydingsvard, and Alison Saar, and the Begin Again curatorial series that revisits decommissioned works. The park credits the St. Louis firm TOKY with launching the anniversary brand and identity.
