Art-punk quintet La Sécurité from Montreal, with support from Kids, plays The Sinkhole.
La Sécurité play The Sinkhole on Friday, December 11, with Kids opening the bill. They're a Montreal art-punk collective that blends bouncy rhythms, a jagged harmonic spectrum, and minimalist melodic phrasing—a sound they describe as inspired by the neon lights of the Quebec metropolis. The lyrics draw on the Riot Grrrl movement and celebrate women's empowerment, friendship, and kindness.
Since the spring of 2022, the quintet has played SXSW, End of the Road, The Great Escape, Reeperbahn, and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, and shared the stage with The Go! Team, The Rapture, Automatic, Mauskovic Dance Band, and Death Valley Girls. Frontwoman Éliane Viens breaks into improvised dance on stage.
