Hawthorne Heights play The Hawthorn in St. Louis for the 20th anniversary of their 2006 album 'If Only You Were Lonely'.
Hawthorne Heights are playing The Hawthorn on Wednesday, November 25, for a show celebrating the 20th anniversary of If Only You Were Lonely. The band is the only act on the bill.
If you've never come across them, Hawthorne Heights is a rock band from Dayton, Ohio, formed in 2001. They're often credited with shaping the sound of early 2000s emo and post-hardcore. They first broke into the national spotlight with their 2004 debut, The Silence in Black and White, which gave us "Ohio Is for Lovers" and "Niki FM." If Only You Were Lonely followed in 2006, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and cementing them as one of the leading voices of that emo generation. Since then, they've put out albums like Fragile Future, Zero, and The Rain Just Follows Me, and they've stayed rooted in a DIY ethic and a close connection to their fanbase.
This particular night is built around If Only You Were Lonely, so the set will center on that record. It's the one that really defined their sound and pushed them into the mainstream, and this show marks two decades since it came out. If you spent your teenage years with those songs on repeat, this is the one to see.
