A hilarious and heartfelt evening of music and comedy featuring Boothby Graffoe's sharp wit and Antonio Forcione's virtuosic guitar mastery.
Boothby Graffoe and Antonio Forcione bring their show Wot Italian? to Turner Sims Concert Hall on Sunday 4 October, from 19:30 to 21:30. It's a pairing of two very different acts sharing one stage: Graffoe is an award-winning comedian and singer-songwriter, and Forcione is an Italian guitarist. The show is billed as a collision of Graffoe's sharp wit and whimsical storytelling with Forcione's guitar mastery, mixing crafted songs, laugh-out-loud banter and a fair bit of Mediterranean flair. The set draws on an eclectic range of genres, from tender ballads to toe-tapping tunes.
Graffoe is a multi-talented, darkly hilarious British eccentric. Stewart Lee has described him as a musical comedian funnier than most comedians, and Omid Djalili has compared him to Spike Milligan. Forcione, on the other hand, has been called the Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar world; he's recorded 16 albums and opened for Phil Collins, Bobby McFerrin and Jools Holland. The two come from opposite ends of the comedy and music spectrum, and Wot Italian? puts them together for one evening.
