A night of tribute music featuring Wheezed, the UK's most popular Weezer tribute act, and Tenacious G, the premier Tenacious D tribute band, performing the Pick of Destiny rock-opera.
Wheezed are playing The 1865 on Thursday 8 October, and they're not coming alone. They're sharing the bill with Tenacious G, so it's a double-header of tribute acts on one night. If you're into Weezer, you'll know the name; they're a UK-based tribute that's built up a following around recreating the specific sound of the early records. They talk about getting the tone, the pedals and the harmonies right, with a particular focus on the 1994 Blue Album.
That's the starting point, but the set doesn't stop there. They draw from across the whole discography: Blue, Green, Red, White, Pinkerton, Raditude and Everything Will Be Alright in the End. It's a broad run, so you'll hear the early stuff alongside the later albums, rather than just a trip back to the nineties.
Tenacious G, the UK's premier Tenacious D tribute, takes the other half of the night. They're marking the 20th anniversary of The Pick of Destiny by performing the movie rock-opera in full, alongside the band's well-known songs. The show includes character appearances, with Sasquatch and the Devil making an appearance on stage.
