Vicky McClure's daylight disco

Vicky McClure's Day Fever is coming to Guildhall on 10 October, as part of a daytime party series that's grown from a simple idea between friends into one of Britain's more unexpected live entertainment success stories. The whole thing was started by McClure, known for Line of Duty and This is England, and her husband, actor Jonny Owen. It's a daytime disco, so the party happens while it's still light out rather than late into the night.

McClure says the biggest change since it started has been the growing confidence of the audience to get up and dance on stage with the hosts. Owen, who co-produced The Aberfan Disaster and created and starred in the cult web series and film Svengali, says he never imagined how popular it would become. His aim was a great venue with brilliant music, a place you feel at home in. McClure describes it as a place where people can be themselves and forget their jobs for a bit.

The Southampton date is part of the series' third birthday tour, which is visiting 33 venues across Britain, from Brighton to Glasgow. It's a daytime affair, so it's one of those things you can do without having to stay out until the early hours. The party is at Guildhall on 10 October.
