Welsh indie rock band The Tubs perform their critically acclaimed album Hard Life at The Joiners.
The Tubs play The Joiners on Friday 2 October, bringing their latest album Hard Life to Southampton. It's a Welsh four-piece, and Hard Life is their third record, which has gathered a fair bit of critical acclaim since it came out.
Their sound sits in the melodic indie rock camp, and if you're wondering where they draw from, they nod towards Sugar — the band fronted by Bob Mould, who'd previously led Hüsker Dü. That puts them in a particular lineage: guitar-driven, with a strong melodic streak running through it. If you've got a soft spot for that kind of thing, this is exactly the sort of gig you'll want to be at.
The show follows a sold-out night at the same venue by local duo Gans, so the room should be in good heart going into it. The Tubs are the main feature of the night, and the set will be built around Hard Life, the record that's been doing the rounds with the critics. It's their third outing as a band, so there's a bit of a catalogue behind them by now, and they're playing it in one of the city's most reliable rooms.
