Warren James presents an authentic live tribute to Johnny Cash, tracing his career from his early days with Sun Records to his later American Recordings.
Warren James brings The Johnny Cash Songbook to Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Sunday 13 September, a live tribute to the 'Man in Black' that follows Cash's career from the start. James is a musician and entertainer, and he builds the set around Cash's rise as a Sun Records artist, recording alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Roy Orbison, and his place in The Million Dollar Quartet.
The show works its way through Cash's catalogue, from those early rockabilly days to the prison-concert anthems and the late-era American Recordings. James sings with a deep baritone, and the set includes hits like 'I Walk the Line', 'Ring of Fire', 'Folsom Prison Blues' and 'Don't Take Your Guns To Town'.
It helps to keep in mind the scale of what he's covering. Cash's career ran from 1954 to 2003, and in that time he put out 91 albums, 170 singles and 14 chart-topping hits. The show traces that whole arc, from the Sun Records beginnings to the later years.

The venue is part of the evening: Hanger Farm is a converted 18th-century timber barn, and there's free customer parking on site, including accessible bays. Doors open at 7:00 PM and the show starts at 7:30 PM. Tickets are from £16.00 per person, available through the Hanger Farm Arts Centre box office.
