An intimate live vocal and piano concert by Susannah Ruth, featuring timeless romantic classics by Elton John, Billy Joel, Sting and others.
Susannah Ruth brings The Greatest Love Songs to Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Thursday 1 October, as part of a tour of live dates across the UK. It's a vocal and piano concert that works its way through romantic classics by songwriters like Elton John, Billy Joel, Carole King, Sting, Norah Jones, Eva Cassidy and James Taylor. The whole thing is stripped back to voice and piano, with Ruth handling both.
Ruth is a Royal Academy of Music-trained vocalist and pianist, and she's the sole performer on stage. She's spent time touring internationally as a violinist, but this is her voice and her piano taking the lead. She describes the show as being built around emotional storytelling and piano-led arrangements, so these songs are presented as her own interpretations rather than straight covers.
The venue is Hanger Farm's 18th-century timber barn, which keeps the evening on the intimate side. It's an all-ages night, though under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult. There's free on-site parking, including Blue Badge bays, so you don't have to worry about the car.
