A tribute band recreating the psychedelic sound of The Doors, with a vocalist channeling Jim Morrison.
The Doors Rising play The 1865 on Friday 4 September, bringing a full-set tribute to The Doors to Brunswick Square. It's a night built around the psychedelic sound of the original band, with a vocalist who channels Jim Morrison on the front.
The band started in 2017 when lifelong fans Stuart, on vocals, and Martyn, on guitar, answered an ad placed by founding keyboardist Freddie. They got their start in Southport, where they built a loyal following before spreading across the north west, playing everything from small venues to larger auditoriums. Over the years the line-up has grown to include Laurence, Wayne, Carl, Jimmy, Eve, Adrian, Joel and Adam.
They describe their aim as an authentic, energetic recreation of The Doors' raw, psychedelic energy, and they go about it with vintage instruments. The set list reaches deep into the catalogue, so you'll hear the well-known ones like 'Light My Fire', 'Riders on the Storm' and 'Break On Through' alongside songs that didn't always get the same airplay. It's a full evening of the material rather than a handful of the biggest hits.
