Simon Evans Back on Tour!

Simon Evans is back on tour, with a date at The Attic on Thursday 15 October. It's a solo stand-up show, and if you've never seen him before, there's a fair bit to get your head around first.

Evans is a BBC Radio 4 regular, a name you'll recognise from The News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth and Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive. He's been doing stand-up for a quarter of a century, and he's built a bit of a reputation on the circuit for a clean act — he dresses smartly and doesn't use bad language. The reviews have been strong: The Scotsman called his work 'a masterclass', Chortle called it 'outstanding' and The Times described it as 'dynamite'.

The material itself pulls from two very different places. On one hand, there's the analogue world of his youth — hitch-hiking, pub bets and getting properly lost. On the other, he brings in the great thinkers and mystics of the past. He sets both against his conviction that we're living in a computer simulation with the AI Singularity looming on the horizon. It's that gap between the old-school, low-tech stories and the high-concept, simulation-theory stuff that gives the show its particular shape.

The Attic is the Southampton Comedy Club, based at River Studios, 32 Winsor Road, Totton, SO40 9HQ. Doors open at 7pm, and the show starts around 7.45pm. Tickets are £18.
