Showcase of choreography, creativity, improvisation and class demonstrations for Shine Studios students and families.
Shine Studios are taking over Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Sunday 19 July for their Choreography Competition & Showcase. It's a full day of dance, and as the name suggests, it's built around the students who train there.
The competition is the main event: students go head-to-head with their own choreography, so you'll see them performing work they've put together themselves rather than just following a set routine. Alongside that, there's a showcase of the studio's creativity and improvisation, with class demonstrations that give you a look at what actually goes on in their sessions. It's a mix of the polished pieces they've been working towards and the more spontaneous side of the studio.
Because it's a showcase, the day is aimed at the Shine Studios community — students, families, and friends coming to see the progress they've made. If you've got a connection to the studio, it's the kind of afternoon where you'll see a lot of familiar faces on stage. If you're just interested in local dance, it's a good way to see the different styles they teach in one go.
