Sarah Bolter 'Not Just Sax' with Derek Nash

Sarah Bolter brings her quintet, Not Just Sax, to Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Sunday 26 July, with Derek Nash joining her as a special guest. Bolter is a Bournemouth musician who plays saxophone, flute and vocals, and the quintet is her own ensemble. Nash is a long-time collaborator: he produced her last album and played on it, so this isn't a random pairing. He's known as one of the UK's busiest and most versatile saxophonists, and he'll be working across all four saxophones here, from soprano down to baritone.

Nash's CV is a long one. He's a member of Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and leads the award-winning jazz ensemble Sax Appeal. Over the years he's played with Eric Clapton, Sir Paul McCartney, Lulu, Jamie Cullum and Annie Lennox, so he's used to working across a lot of different styles. The set is described as having duelling saxes, high energy, beautiful ballads and a lot of fun.

Hanger Farm Arts Centre is an 18th-century converted barn on the edge of the New Forest, home to a theatre, a bustling café and an exhibition gallery. It's run by the Minstead Trust, which has championed inclusive Community Theatre since 2018 and employs people with learning disabilities.
