Ross Harding Band bring their Dark Blues Revival to Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Thursday 30 July, starting at 20:00. It's a full-band show, and the title isn't just a label — it's how Harding describes the sound he's built around his voice and his guitar.
Ross Harding is a South African-born artist now based in Surrey, and he describes his work as channeling the ghosts of the Delta through a modern, darkly cinematic sound. He calls it the 'Dark Blues Revival', a blend of rock's grit and the soul of the blues, and the set explores the darker edges of the genre rather than sticking to the brighter, more familiar side of things. Critics have described the result as having 'a remarkable dark and moving depth; cracked, soulful and incredibly emotive'.
He's known for a powerful voice, raw emotion and commanding guitar work, and he's played festivals like The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival. His work has been featured in Blues In Britain, Blues Rock Review and Kerrang!, and he's supported by the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association. He's also collaborated with brands like Coca-Cola and The Reach For A Dream Foundation, and he works across two formats: intimate acoustic sets and high-voltage full-band shows like this one.
