English collective Nubiyan Twist, blending jazz, funk, Afro-beat, dub and hip-hop, visit The Brook with support from Webmoms.
Nubiyan Twist play The Brook on Wednesday 7 October, as part of their 2026 UK tour. The night is presented by Gotobeat, and the collective is supported by Webmoms.
Nubiyan Twist is a nine-piece collective formed in Leeds, known for a big-band sound that pulls from jazz, afrobeat, soul, hip-hop and dance music. They've worked with Nile Rodgers, Tony Allen, Seun Kuti and Fatoumata Diawara, and have picked up MOBO and AIM Award nominations along the way, with praise from NPR, Rolling Stone, Jazzwise and Bandcamp Daily. The Southampton date is one stop on their tour across the UK this year.
Opening for them is Webmoms, the project of UK-based instrumentalist, producer and rapper Karum Cooper. His sound weaves together jazz, neo-soul, R&B and hip-hop, and he describes it as drawing on a household that spanned 90s RnB, 50s bebop, Punjabi hip-hop and classic calypso. It's a good fit for the bill, sitting in the same cross-genre territory as the main act.
