Concert by Mike Dawes, an acclaimed English fingerstyle guitarist known for complex guitar arrangements, at The Brook.
Mike Dawes plays The Brook on Sunday 13 September, with doors opening at 7:30 pm and the show starting around 8:00 pm. He's an English fingerstyle guitarist who's built his name on doing something most people don't associate with a single acoustic guitar: playing multiple parts at once. He handles the bass, the melody and the percussion simultaneously, so what sounds like a full band is actually just one man and six strings. Total Guitar Magazine and MusicRadar have named him 'Best Acoustic Guitarist in the World' twice.
If you've come across him through the internet, you'll probably recognise his arrangements of Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used to Know' and Metallica's 'One', both of which have gathered tens of millions of views. He also writes his own material, like 'The Impossible'. Beyond the viral clips, he's toured with Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues, collaborated with Grammy winner Tommy Emmanuel, and contributed to the Grammy-nominated band Periphery. His guitar work has also appeared on soundtracks for Better Call Saul and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and he released the live album Shows and Distancing: Live in the USA.
