Mammal Hands

Mammal Hands play Turner Sims on Friday 2 October, starting at 20:00. They're a UK act that doesn't sit easily in one box, blending jazz, contemporary classical, electronica, folk and minimalism. Across five albums they've built an international following, and this date is part of the Jazz Southampton series at Turner Sims.

The set will draw from their latest record, Circadia, which came out in spring 2026 on the ACT label — the same label that's home to the Esbjörn Svensson Trio. It's the first album to feature Rob Turner on drums, a long-time friend of the band and formerly of GoGo Penguin, and the result is beat-driven and rhythmically alive. That rhythmic shift sits alongside the wider range of sounds they pull from, so you'll hear the jazz and electronica alongside the more classical and folk influences.

They've built a reputation for their live shows, with performances at the Barbican and tours across Asia. The date forms part of the Jazz Southampton series at Turner Sims, a venue whose building is currently closed for Phase 1 building works, with the Box Office open only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 1.30pm-4.30pm, from Tuesday 30 June to Wednesday 9 September, before reopening on Monday 14 September. The show starts at 20:00 on Friday 2 October.
