French progressive rock band Lazuli perform live at The 1865, bringing their unique fusion of rock, world music and marimba.
Lazuli are playing The 1865 on Wednesday 14 October, one of just five UK dates they're doing this autumn. They're a band from the south of France, formed back in 1998, and their music sits somewhere between rock, progressive rock and world music. It's driven by poetic French lyrics and a line-up that doesn't exactly fit the usual rock mould: marimba, French horn, drums, percussion, guitars and vocals, plus the Léode, a unique instrument created by Claude Leonetti. That mix of sounds is what they're known for, and it's what they'll be bringing to Southampton.
If you've never come across them, the French horn and marimba give them a texture you don't often hear in a rock band, and the Léode adds something entirely their own. They've built their reputation on that fusion, and they're carrying it across the border for this run of shows. With only five dates on the UK tour, this is one of the few chances to catch them on this side of the Channel.

The gig starts at 7:00 PM at The 1865 in Brunswick Square, Southampton SO14 3AR. Tickets are £15 general admission plus a £1.50 booking fee.
