Jazz concert featuring double bassist Genevieve Namazzi and trombonist Christ-Stéphane Boizi, part of the Tomorrow's Warriors initiative.
Jazz Platform comes to Turner Sims on Friday 30 October, 20:00, as the first night in a new series at the venue showcasing the next generation of jazz talent. It's part of Tomorrow's Warriors' Warriors Rise initiative, which supports emerging artists across a seven-date run of UK gigs.
The bill is fronted by Genevieve Namazzi, a South London-raised double bassist and Southampton University alumna who returns to the city with her newly formed quartet. Sharing the stage is trombonist, composer and bandleader Christ-Stéphane Boizi, a Tomorrow's Warriors Emerging Artist signed to Mark Kavuma's Banger Factory Records, with his debut LP due later in the year.
The evening opens with The Vibe Lounge, a 40-minute free foyer performance programmed by The Vibe Collective, a team of music lovers aged 18-25 whose projects aim to reach young people and highlight Southampton's music scene. It's a good excuse to get there early and catch some extra music before the main bill kicks off.

Tickets are £15 for Band A (£13.50 for Friends) and £10 for Band B (£9 for Friends), with students and under-18s paying £5 and schools also £5. The whole thing starts at 20:00 at Turner Sims.
