A jazz concert by Jasper Høiby and his trio 3Elements, presenting their album Conversations of Hope.
Jasper Høiby and his trio 3Elements play Turner Sims Concert Hall on Tuesday 17 November, with the set built around their latest album, Conversations of Hope.
The trio is Høiby on double bass, Xavi Torres on piano and Naíma Acuña on drums. Conversations of Hope came out on Edition Records earlier this year, and it's the first record with this lineup ever. 3Elements is a series of three records, where this is the third. The two previous records are with different lineups, though Jasper Høiby is on all three. Critics have called it fresh, urgent and brimming with life, and that's the record they're taking on the road.
Jasper Høiby is a Danish-born double bassist, composer and bandleader from Copenhagen. He founded Phronesis, which has been widely cited as one of the most influential modern piano trios, and he describes 3Elements as his latest project, rooted in the same structure, risk and collective momentum that defined that trio. The Southampton date is part of a 3Elements tour arranged for this lineup, with the band also playing Leeds, London and Brighton.

The concert starts at 20:00 at Turner Sims Concert Hall on Salisbury Road. Tickets are £25 for Band A, £20 for Band B and £10 for Band C, with Friends of the hall paying £22.50, £18 and £9 respectively. Students and under-18s get Band B and C for £10, and schools are also £10.
