A high-energy disco and funk tribute to the music of Nile Rodgers and Chic, performed by the eight-piece band Good Times.
Good Times are playing The 1865 on Saturday 3 October, an eight-piece band that bills itself as Europe's premier live tribute to Nile Rodgers and CHIC. The set is built around the funk, soul and disco dynamics of Rodgers' music, and it runs for about 90 minutes.
The setlist leans on the classics you'll know — 'Good Times', 'Le Freak' and 'Everybody Dance' are all in there — but it doesn't stop at CHIC. They also cover the work Rodgers did for other artists, with their own versions of tracks recorded by Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, David Bowie and Daft Punk. It's a fair bit of ground to cover in one night, and they bring the sequins and the stylish outfits to match, with crowd interaction as part of the show.
They've played venues and festivals across the UK and Europe, including Rewind Spain and Music in the City at the O2 Guildhall here in Southampton. Along the way they've shared stages with a long list of names: Tony Hadley, Vernon Kay, Reef, Slade, Heather Small, Bay City Rollers, Rebecca Ferguson, Scouting for Girls, Toyah Wilcox, The Fizz, Boney M, Pat Sharpe, Limahl and Jaki Graham. The band isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Nile Rodgers and CHIC.
