Nine-piece band Gentleman's Dub Club bring their high-energy dub, ska and reggae show to EngineRooms as part of their 20th Anniversary Tour.
Gentleman's Dub Club play Engine Rooms on Friday 16 October, as part of their 20th Anniversary Tour. It's a nine-piece live set, and the Southampton date is presented by WHE Live in association with the venue.
They formed in Leeds in early 2006, rooted in dub, ska and roots reggae. They built their reputation on the UK circuit, playing gigs and festivals up and down the country, and they're known for a high-energy show that combines tight grooves with a heavyweight sound: the brass section booms and the bass sits deep, and the night often ends in a frenzied mosh pit reminiscent of a mid-80s ska night, while live effects and mixing keep the sound crystal clear. Two decades of recorded releases follow, and the band is now regarded as one of the UK's most exciting live acts.
This is a milestone tour for them, marking twenty years since they started out in Leeds. The Southampton show is part of that run, with the full nine-piece band on stage rather than a stripped-back version. It's strictly 18+, and you'll need a valid photo ID to get in.
