Southampton's weekly Saturday day party with live DJs, cocktails and dancing at Medbar, featuring throwback R&B, garage classics and 90s dance anthems.
Daytime Clubbing is back at Medbar this Saturday, 19 September, and it's one of the city's only weekly Saturday day parties. It runs from 4pm to 10pm, so you've got a full six hours of music and dancing on the go long before the midnight rush. The whole point is to bring the club experience forward for those who aren't keen on staying out until the early hours, and it's free entry, so you can just turn up and see how you feel.
The music covers a fair bit of ground. You'll hear throwback R&B, garage classics, 90s dance anthems, 80s hits and sing-alongs, so it's more of a broad mix than a single genre. It's the kind of set that works whether you're there for the dancefloor or just for the cocktails and the company.
Medbar, on Oxford Street, has been around since 2013 and bills itself as Southampton's number one late-night bar and club. It's open until 2am every Friday and Saturday with two rooms of music and free entry before 10pm. The Saturday daytime party is part of a wider weekly run: there's a Saturday party brunch from 2pm to 4pm, a Sunday Latin Fiesta with salsa, bachata and kizomba, and karaoke every Wednesday. There are also 2-for-1 cocktails daily from 4pm to 8pm and bottomless brunch sessions across the weekend.
