Chemistry - A Tribute to Rush

Chemistry bring their Rush tribute to Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Sunday 30 August, with the show starting at 19:30. It's a power trio that formed in the spring of 2024, and they describe their mission as staging the most authentic, entertaining and exciting Rush tribute possible, drawing from the band's entire discography rather than sticking to a few well-known tracks. If you're a fan, that means you'll hear the early stuff alongside the later years, not just the hits.

Fronting the band is Alex Body, a lifelong Rush fan who also wrote Rush: Song by Song, the critically acclaimed book that breaks down their work. He handles bass, keyboards and vocals, taking on the role Geddy Lee played across the band's career. He's joined by guitarist Joe Guynan, who channels Lee's playing as well as the signature sounds of Alex Lifeson, and drummer Max Ashton, who describes himself as an exuberant player aiming to capture the spirit of Neil Peart in every triplet. Together they're a three-piece, the same format Rush always worked in.

The venue is Hanger Farm Arts Centre, a 17th-century converted barn on Aikman Lane in West Totton, SO40 8FT. It's run by the Minstead Trust, a charity that supports people with learning disabilities, so your ticket goes towards that work as well as the music. The show is open to all ages, which makes it easy to bring along younger fans if you've got them. Tickets are £16 full and £14 concession, and the music kicks off at 19:30.
