A day of culture, community, business, health, art and music celebrating diversity and heritage with international cultural villages, live entertainment and local businesses.
BBAM! Festival (Black Business, Art & Music) returns to Guildhall Square on Saturday 8 August, a one-day celebration of Southampton's black talent and community. It's built around the International Cultural Villages, where different communities take over their own spaces and turn them into immersive experiences. You'll find traditions, fashion, music, art, language, food and heritage all in one place, with each village showcasing its own distinct culture.
The music and performance side runs throughout the day. There's a live line-up that pulls in musicians, singers, dancers, spoken-word artists, DJs and cultural performers, so the sound changes as you move through the square. Alongside the stage, local businesses set up to show their work, and there's African and Caribbean food on hand. It's a day that brings together business, art, music, and community in a single spot.
There's also a health and wellbeing zone, which has been expanded this time around. It offers free health information, wellbeing support and cancer awareness, so you can pick up some useful advice between the performances. The whole thing is free to attend, and it's a one-day event, so you can make a proper afternoon of it without needing to clear your whole weekend.
